Adding a PDF to an email can be a very daunting task in the BriefYourMarket system but there are two quick and easy methods to add your PDF to your email or newsletter campaign when using the Email/Newsletter Editor.
The two methods are:
- The Drag & Drop
- Hyperlinking the PDF
Both these methods are explained below.
Method 1. – Drag & Drop.
With your PDF file now uploaded into your Document Manager, you can use the simple ‘drag & drop’ method to add a PDF to your email or newsletter.
Once your email or newsletter is open, begin by adding a layout block to the desired area your template. This can be done by clicking the layout block tool option from the editor’s toolbar which is on left side of the editor (highlighted in a red box in the below image). Adding a layout block is just a case of selecting the block you want and drag it on to the relevant place on your email or newsletter. In the image below, I have selected a “One Column” layout block (highlighted in a green box) and dragged it to my email.
Next, from the editor’s toolbar on the left hand side select the 4th icon up from the bottom to open your document library and select the pdf you want to add. Simply click and drag it into your layout block as seen in the image below.
Once you have dragged and dropped your PDF into the layout block a small box will appear with the title “Link Properties”. You will need to complete the Link Properties for the PDF to be linked to your email or newsletter.
You have the option to link your PDF to an image or to text.
Once you have decided what you would like the pdf to be linked to (in the below image I have chosen text – I typed the text “Click Here” I want the reader to click on in the ‘Link Text’) It will now appear in your layout block. You can add additional text around the ‘Link Text’ within the layout block if you wish to. If you are using an image to link to your PDF and would like to add some text near it, we suggest using another layout block for the addition of text.
If you are using an image to link to your PDF, you need to click the “Link Image” icon (highlighted in green on the below image).
This opens a slightly larger window displaying your Image Library, from which you can select an image to be linked to your PDF. would like to add some text near it, we suggest using another layout block for the addition of text.
If would like to add some text near this ‘Image Link’ on your email or newsletter, we suggest using another layout block for the addition of text.
Method 2. Hyperlinking the PDF.
With your PDF file now uploaded into your Document Manager, you are able to link this PDF to your email or newsletter without having to drag and drop in the Email/Newsletter Editor.
Firstly, you will need the link to the PDF from the Documents Manager. The link can be found in the Document Manager (highlighted in a green box in the below image). You will need to copy and paste this link and place it into your Notepad or a Word doc (you will need this link later).
Select the PDF file you want to add, right click on the name and select “Rename” (highlighted in a green box in the below image).
Copy the name of the PDF file press the “Cancel” button as we only need the name of the file, we do not need to rename.
Paste the name of PDF where you had pasted the first link and add the file name to the end so it comes right after “Documents/”. It should look like my example link below:

Go back to your email or newsletter in the Email/Newsletter Editor. Add some text or an image to a layout block, select the image or text and click the 3rd icon (highlighted with a green box in the below image) from the right in the Text Toolbar.
This will open a small window called “Edit Link”. Simply paste your previously saved link into the “URL” part of the window, once you have done this click the green ok button on this window. Using my example, I have pasted my link in the URL part of the Edit Link window (highlighted with a green box in the below image).
